What’s the Big Deal With Amazon Prime?

I’ve been a member of Amazon Prime for 5 or 6 years now, and I have to tell you I’m thrilled with its benefits.  I strongly recommend this service.

The main reason I signed up for Amazon Prime was the shipping cost savings — FREE Two-Day shipping.  I had gone back to school to get an advanced degree and I was spending a lot of money on text books and shipping.  With the Amazon Prime membership I saved far more than the cost of the membership on shipping costs alone.

But wait, there’s more.  Much more!

Amazon Prime members also have FREE access to lots of movies and TV shows.  If you enjoy the instant access to such entertainment from Netflix, you’ll love Amazon Prime too. Amazon’s library of available movies and TV shows has grown immensely since I started my Prime membership.

If you enjoy reading, you’ll certainly enjoy Amazon’s Kindle Owner’s Lending Library. Amazon Prime membership entitles you to “borrow” and read a book a month. You’ll have access to thousands of books, including New York Times bestsellers. There are no due dates. Keep the borrowed books on your Amazon Kindle device as long as you like, and return them when you’re ready for another.

I would continue my Amazon Prime membership even without these incredible benefits, just for the shipping cost savings alone.  But the video entertainment and Kindle book lending features are great bonuses.  For those of you who don’t buy much from Amazon, and hence don’t need the shipping cost benefit, you’ll certainly enjoy the expanding list of FREE movies and TV shows you can stream across the Internet to your computer, tablet, or smart phone.

Use a streaming media device, like the Apple TV, to stream these videos to your big screen TV, or watch on your mobile devices.

If you are not yet an Amazon Prime member, what are you waiting for? Join today and start enjoying these money-saving benefits.
